A Better Introduction to Who I am

About Me

My full name is Bálint Csermák-Scharbert, founder of CSC Motorsport, and developer of DeltaTrace. I was born and raised in Budapest, Hungary. It was towards the last years of elementary school that my interest in engineering processes began taking shape. Though at the time, my main focus was on competing under the colours of the national tennis team of Hungary.

My childhood has been shaped greatly by competitive situations. I adore competition and high-tension moments, and my 12 years of active competing put me through obstacles and adversity, but plenty of joy and success, which made it all worth it. Consequently, I believe it is my interest in engineering, the automotive industry, and yearn for adrenaline-fuelled moments that led me to pursue a career in motorsports.

Founding CSC Motorsport and bringing DeltaTrace to life is my first step in exploring what it is like to manage a public project on a bigger scale, and under the guidance of Inga Stracke I hope to bring improvements whenever possible.

I am now in my final year of the business engineering programme at Maastricht University, and will finish my thesis along an internship by July, which has the working title ‘Data-Driven Evaluation of Performance and Strategy in Formula One’. I aim to construct a strategy model that can handle live data and provide active decision feedback based on changing variables.

My Journey So Far

2017

DEEPER CONTACT WITH FORMULA ONE

As I have been competitively been playing tennis since I was 7 years old, I’ve always been one to enjoy high stakes and adrenaline fuelling moments. Naturally, my the sport has caught my interest.
I was familiar with F1 sport ever since I was young, as I remember watching it occasionally on television after lunch on Sundays.
Though it was the nail-biting 2016 season between Sir Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg that gathered my close interest and resulted in inspiring me to watch more often.
2021

BECOMING A SUPERFAN

After following the brilliance of Mercedes through 2017-2020, it was clear from the first qualifying session in Bahrain 2021, that this season won’t be like previous ones.
It was at this time that I started watching all sessions, practices, qualifying and full Grand Prix races without fail. This spark of interest and my keen eye for engineering encouraged me to dive deeper into what goes on in the background, familiarising myself with current regulations, and key performance indicators in the sport, including data analysis

2023

START OF MY UNIVERSITY STUDIES

By the time I started university, I already had clear goals in my head, giving me inspiration to challenge myself and push to achieve the pinnacle of motorsport.
Arriving with a weaker high school background, the initial hurdles of my engineering studies were challenging, but as I am writing this I am in my last year of university and can gladly say, that all hurdles have been successfully conquered.
2025

FIRST CONTACT WIT MOTORSPORT MEDIA

In the summer of 2025, through complete coincidence I was recommended to Formula One and motorsport journalist and media presenter Inga Stracke.
She gave me my first contact with the sport from the inside, and by working with her I got the chance to get up close with engineering debriefs, driver interviews, and experts I adored seeing on TV. I will forever be grateful to her for providing such an opportunity, which just a few days before first contact seemed like a dream.
2026

DEVELOPMENT OF AN EXCITING PROJECT
Our partnership went so well, that after the summer I have been helping Mrs. Stracke with writing magazine articles, building a better online presence and helping with finding new sponsors to power our work.
In February of this year, I will officially be starting my thesis research project under her management. I aim to bring DeltaTrace to life, while building a strategy prediction model as thesis research for my university. As these ideas develop, I am sure we will take things to the next level.
2026 February

LAUNCH OF DELTATRACE
After a fortnight of coding, testing, debugging, and even more debugging, I launched DeltaTrace on February 20th.
I am delighted to have carried out this project, as I’ve learned invaluable things about approaching coding as a whole and with such complex datasets. The experience will absolutely help me complete an even better thesis research.
